Weighted Companion Cube, Edible Elder Gods, and Pi !

Jennyvier over at Flickr, got inventive with cookie dough and baked these delicious looking 'Weighted Companion Cube' cookies from the game 'Portal'.

The dough was apparently leftover from making Battlestar Galactica Cylon cookies. Is there no end to this woman's Geekcake genius?

Richard Crawford's Wife used I'm-not-sure-what-ingenuity to create this fiercesomely cute Cthulu cake for his 40th Birthday.

Richard describes it's complicated construction:

"She used a teddy bear cake pan as the basis. The wings are Styrofoam. The tentacles are marshmallows. And in addition to being the coolest cake ever, by the coolest wife ever, it was absolutely delicious."

If Cthulu were ever to wake from slumber, I hope it's in an edible cake form!

Last, but by no means least, Pi cookies created by Spugmeistress over at Flickr:

Hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm, Pi. That's it for today. See you Monday!

It's the Tardis !

Tardis_Flickr_Find

The return of Dr Who to TV has introduced non-stargate travel to an entirly new generation of geeks in waiting.

For some reason, Daleks, the Tardis, and Supermario Land, seems to inspire the most Geekcake creations. Not being a baker myself I'd guess it's the original shape of these items (decorated cone, rectangular box, and erm Mushroom), that draw people to want to turn them into baked goods.

The Tardis pictured above was spotted by A Gabriel Baysto. Unfortunately I was unable to find the original poster on Flikr.com. If you created it, then please email me so I can give full credit. Jordan, whomever he/she is  - is lucky that to have someone willing to create such cake-ilicious Tardis goodness for them.

The Tardis pictured below was spotted by Abi Silvester, the editor of CraftCrafty.Tv.

The thing I love most about this Tardis cake, is that it seems to be resting on a glace Danish pastry-type base. So it combines cake AND pastry! What more could you possibly ask for from a Geekcake?

See you Friday !

First a big thank you ! - plus a posting schedule...

Firstly let me say a big thank you to everyone who heard about my budding blog and responded with links to pictures of their own Geekcake creations.

I seem to be gaining interested readers fast so I thought I would clarify exactly what (and when) I intend to do with this blog.

Firstly if its a baked good, and geeky, then I deem it a Geekcake.

Secondly, I will never feature a Hello Kitty cake. Why? Well Hello Kitty has her own army of fandom and although I wish them well I am not one of them.

If you want to see every Hello Kitty product imaginable (and some you probably would never have thought of) then I suggest you take a look at the "Hello Kitty Hell". It sometimes features Sanrio baked goods, and well... if you're curious go look for yourself.

Thirdly, I intend, to update every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Sometimes I'll only post one cake, sometimes I'll post more, it all depends on how much time I have. It is however, very unlikely you'll see more than four in any single day. Cake is best appreciated in modearation. I've yet to witness it but I am told there is such a thing as too much cake.

Fourthly, I do not have a Facebook account, and am unlikely to ever get one so I am unable to see any Facebook members locked photographs! Ditto Myspace. Ditto Bebo. Why? I don't have time! I'm too busy finding geekcakes hidden away in the dustiest corners of the 'intarwebs

Finally, if you don't like the eblogger interface, then you can read the blog via LJ syndicated community Here, or standard RSS feed Here.

Thank you for visiting Geekcake.

Welcome to Geek Cake !

The purpose of this blog is simple and twofold

1) To trawl the intarwebs finding pictures (and if possible the story behind) the geekiest cakes there are.

2) To share those pictures from one central locale - here!

I hope you enjoy looking at these bizzare edible works of geek as much as I do.

If you have made a geek cake, or seen one online that you think should be shared with world, please email me at faintdreams[at]gmail[dot]com.

Thanks !
